We are thrilled to welcome you to "Electronic Counterpoint" on Friday, March 28 at 19.00 at Tonhain. You will experience a sonic exploration of the next step in the evolution of the relationship between man, music, and machine - the advent of electronic music.
Our program features revolutionary works by Ligeti, Davidovsky, Kirchner, and Saariaho, alongside the German debut of SERENITY 2.0 for percussion, electronics, and string quartet by the award-winning British-Japanese composer Ben Nobuto.

Nobuto’s compositions have been described as ‘postmodern’ (Nonclassical), ‘utterly contemporary’ (Manchester Collective), and ‘sonically dazzling’ (RPS Awards). His music merges electronic, classical, and jazz influences and explores themes of attention, fragmentation, and the interplay between human and non-human elements in live performance. Recently, he was honored with an Ivors Classical Award for his choral work Sol and a Royal Philharmonic Society Award for SERENITY 2.0.
We are incredibly excited to welcome Ben Nobuto in person for this event! Ahead of the concert, we invite you to a pre-concert talk at 17:45 with the artists of Tonhain Kollektiv and Nobuto himself. This discussion will offer unique insights into the artists' perspective and Nobuto's compositional process.
Entry to the talk is free with a concert ticket.
As a sneak peek into Ben’s work, check out this video from his ongoing BentoBeats project.
We look forward to sharing this special evening with you!
